Terms of Service
Effective July 1, 2026 · Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada
These Terms govern your use of the Silkro platform at silkro.app. By creating an account or completing a transaction, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Who we are
Silkro is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace operated by Farrukh Sohail, based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. We operate a platform connecting individuals who wish to rent out personal property ("Lenders") with individuals who wish to rent such property ("Renters"). Silkro facilitates the connection — we are not a party to any rental transaction between users.
2. Acceptance of terms
By using Silkro you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, are a resident of Canada or accessing the Platform lawfully, have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, and have the legal authority to enter into a binding agreement.
3. How Silkro works
Silkro provides a technology platform that enables Lenders to list items for rent and receive payment, Renters to browse listings and book items, and both parties to communicate and manage transactions. Silkro is not an owner or lessor of any listed items. All rental agreements are directly between Lenders and Renters.
4. Account registration and verification
You must provide accurate information during registration, complete government-issued ID verification via Stripe Identity before any transaction, maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials, and notify us immediately at hello@silkro.app of any unauthorised account use. Silkro may suspend accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.
5. Lender responsibilities
As a Lender you confirm you are the legal owner of listed items, all descriptions and photos are accurate, items are in the condition described, you will not list stolen, counterfeit, dangerous, or illegal items, and you will report any damage within 24 hours of item return.
Lenders who receive three or more substantiated complaints about item condition or misrepresentation may have their accounts suspended without notice.
6. Renter responsibilities
As a Renter you agree to treat rented items with reasonable care, return items by the agreed time (late returns incur the daily rental rate for each day late), not sub-rent or transfer items to third parties, and accept responsibility for any damage, theft, or loss during your rental period.
7. Payments, fees, and deposits
All payments are processed by Stripe. Silkro charges a Lender fee of 11% of the rental price (minimum $3.00) and a Renter service fee of 7% of the rental price (minimum $2.00), for a combined effective rate of approximately 18% per transaction. A security deposit, set by the Lender at the time of listing, is held on the Renter's payment method before exchange — not charged unless a damage claim is approved, and released upon confirmed return. Lender payout timing will be communicated directly to Lenders as our payment infrastructure develops. Cancellation and refund policies will be published here once finalized.
8. Prohibited items and activities
The following may not be listed or done on Silkro: weapons, illegal substances, counterfeit or stolen goods, items under outstanding finance agreements, hazardous materials, underwear or swimwear, conducting transactions outside the Platform, creating fake listings or reviews, harassing other users, using the Platform for commercial resale, or attempting to circumvent our verification systems.
9. Dispute resolution
Either party may raise a dispute within 24 hours of item return. Disputes are reviewed using listing details, photos, and user communications. Silkro will work to issue a resolution as promptly as possible. The Silkro resolution is final for deposit release purposes. This does not preclude legal remedies in Ontario courts.
10. Limitation of liability
Silkro is not liable for damage to, theft of, or loss of items rented through the Platform. Silkro's total liability shall not exceed fees paid by the user in the 12 months preceding any claim. Silkro is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Ontario courts.
